“Brightwake Ltd have a long history of working with bioengineers at the University of Strathclyde with a focus on bringing advanced life changing technologies to the clinical sector where they can benefit the most challenging patient populations. There are many examples of this productive collaboration, including the licensing of the blood salvage technology, HemoSep, from Strathclyde University in 2012, ultimately leading to a medical device that is having impact across the world. This early collaboration spawned many more, using a number of funding mechanisms, including Innovate UK's Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) program. Through this program Brightwake Ltd and the University of Strathclyde Bioengineering Dept have developed world leading technologies that touch on some of the most challenging clinical problems of our day. These include the development of the world's first real-time blood concentration diagnostic device to determine the clinical end-point of HemoSep blood salvage procedures, enabling clinicians to more intelligently and efficiently control blood salvage. Further KTP work involving the partnership has led to the development of a novel sepsis treatment technology that promises to revolutionize the treatment of patients with this life threatening condition. Currently the partnership are working together on a highly disruptive wound care technology that promises to help maintain Brighwake's position as one of the world’s most innovative woundcare companies. Brighwake's work with the University of Strathclyde has at its heart the objective of innovating solutions to global healthcare challenges. We anticipate further world leading innovations to emerge from this highly productive partnership.”
